As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in Vancouver BC, I am passionate about mental health and wellness. As a person who values the incredible power of listening and living a balanced life, becoming a professional counsellor was a natural fit. I am dedicated to helping my clients address their concerns, feel happier and have more confidence.

In order to do this important work, I received extensive clinical training in Counselling Psychology at Simon Fraser University. In addition to my education, my clinical work at the Surrey Counselling Clinic and in the Student Health Services Department at Langara College has given me experience in providing a wide range of mental health services to adults of all ages.

Most importantly, volunteering at the Crisis Line and working in community based agencies and non-profit settings have shown me the importance of providing accessible and affordable mental health services to my community.

As a Korean speaking intern counsellor, I am passionate about supporting individuals through meaningful self-exploration, healing, and personal growth. My counselling philosophy is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s lived experience. I aim to create a therapeutic space where individuals feel heard, safe, and genuinely supported.

I work with individuals facing challenges such as emotional regulation, life transitions, and identity-related concerns. My approach integrates cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), allowing me to tailor sessions to meet the unique needs and goals of each client.

I believe that change happens when people are met with empathy and empowered to understand themselves more fully. Whether someone is building resilience, navigating uncertainty, or simply seeking clarity, I strive to walk alongside them with warmth and professional care.

Therapy is about providing a space for healing and self-discovery, where clients can safely explore challenges and new possibilities can emerge. I work alongside clients to uncover their strengths and explore strategies that work for them.

My aim is to provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed counselling, honouring each individual’s unique journey. I am especially passionate in supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist who believes healing happens when people feel seen, understood, and accepted for who they are. My work is person-centred, collaborative, trauma-informed, and strength-based, and I strive to create a safe, inclusive space for people of all identities, including those in the LGBTQ+ community.

I primarily work using evidence-based counselling approaches to support emotional well-being, insight, and change. For those who are interested, I also offer art therapy as an additional way to explore experiences through metaphor, imagery, and creative expression. No art skills are needed! Whether we work through talking, art, or both is always guided by your comfort, preferences, and goals.

I work with children, young adults, parents, families, and individuals navigating life transitions, stress, identity questions, and emotional challenges, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. I also enjoy supporting people who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and their values, moving at a pace that feels right for them in an affirming and supportive space.

As an immigrant who grew up in an Asian cultural context, I offer culturally responsive and BIPOC-affirming counselling, and I am fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Your voice and feedback matter, and our work together is shaped collaboratively in a warm and supportive space.

My name is Amy and I’m an intern counsellor at Chroma. I am currently in the process of completing my Master’s at Adler University. I am very passionate about working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and identities and believe that each individual brings a beautiful and unique characteristic and background to counselling that should be emphasized.

I like to use a lens of CBT mixed with other modalities like Feminist Theory and Personal-centred and believe that approaching sessions with a trauma-informed lens is crucial. I recognize that walking into a counselling space takes immense courage and I aim to offer clients a warm and compassionate space where we can work collaboratively to overcome challenges, identify patterns, and provide empathic support to improve on the quality of life.

I believe that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the access to support in a safe setting. Counselling should focus on the unique and rich aspects of clients’ cultures, identities, and backgrounds. One thing I’d like you to know is that you are not alone because support and care is available!
